Privacy Policy
Effective October 9, 2026 · Updated October 9, 2026 (early-access list)
The short version: Tiny City has no accounts, no ads, no tracking, and no analytics. Your precise location never leaves your iPhone. To get your weather, the app sends only an approximate location (rounded to about 11 km / 7 miles), and we don't store it or connect it to you.
Location
If you allow location access, Tiny City uses your location on your iPhone to choose the nearest supported city and to show your town's name. Looking up your town's name uses Apple's location services.
To show your weather, the app sends an approximate location to our server, rounded to about 11 km. Our server uses it to ask Apple Weather for the forecast for that area. We keep that area's weather for up to 30 minutes so nearby users can share it. The cache is organized by area, not by person, and contains no information about you.
If you don't allow location access, you can pick a city by hand, and no location is sent at all; the app uses the city's center instead.
What stays on your iPhone
- Your chosen city, if you pick one by hand.
- Downloaded city images and recent weather, cached so the app works quickly and offline.
What our server receives
- Scene requests: the city, weather condition (like "rain"), and time of day (like "night") needed to fetch the right image.
- Weather requests: the approximate location described above and your time zone.
- Standard request logs: our hosting provider, Supabase, automatically keeps basic logs (such as IP address, time, and the address requested) for security and troubleshooting, for a limited time. We don't use them to identify or profile anyone.
Early-access email list
If you join the early-access list on this website, we store only the email address you enter and when you signed up. We use it to email you when Tiny City launches, and for nothing else. We never sell or share it. To be removed, email help@tinycity.fun and we'll delete it.
Analytics
We use PostHog to understand how Tiny City and this website are used (for example, how many people open the app, add the widget, or sign up for early access), so we can improve them.
- In the app: usage events (like "opened the app" or "added the widget") tied to a random identifier Apple gives each app developer for your device. It is not Apple's advertising identifier and isn't linked to your name, email, or location. Cities are recorded only as which supported city is shown.
- On this website: page views and clicks, stored in memory only (no cookies). If you join the early-access list, your email is attached to that visit.
We don't use analytics for advertising or to track you across other apps or websites.
Purchases
The widget unlock is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details, name, or Apple Account.
Service providers
- Apple: Apple Weather (weather data), location services (town names), and the App Store (purchases).
- Supabase: hosts our server, database, and images.
- PostHog: product analytics (see above).
- Google Gemini: draws the city images. We send it only city names and weather descriptions, never anything about you.
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-ins. The app never asks for your email; the website's early-access list is optional.
- No advertising and no tracking across other apps or websites.
- We never sell or share personal information.
Children
Tiny City doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its effective date.
